Overall, it was an excellent and engaging romance full of funny, sharp dialogue, and beautiful Regency-era descriptions. The writing was also very good and that made it easy to keep going. Even though it is well written and a true traditional regency, I had real problem with Jack and his behavior especially when we were told in one scene after having a confrontation with Sedge that he visited view spoiler [ a brothel that specialized in very young girls. Three friends that are looking for a wife without having to get the they heart on the way of choosing her, but the little organ development a fascination for the wrong lady this Rakes don’t have on the list of candidates.

Ano I realize that it’s not easy to write story about a plain-looking heroine and s handsome, rogue-ish hero. While I admired the strong, complex characters that Hern crafted and their troubling back story, Lady Mary was by far my favorite and Lord Pemerton not so much.

Jack uses his rakish ways to convince Mary to be his bride, but of course, he is not really the rake in his heart that he seems to be. So she goes out and about, being friends to and knowing everyone, in short is quite popular lady.
I loved the first chapter. Miss Lillian Carstairs who seems to fill the bill, namely she is rich and not too offensive.
