I have read gobs of scenes in which someone puts the beat down on another person, sometimes to fatal effect. The publisher backed at least 5 John Rain books for publication, and this one has a high enough Goodreads rating that I feel like I missed something.

The plot is tangled up in other plots, and the nature of the enemy is unclear throughout. While eusler could read this as a standalone, I would recommend reading the first in the series, Rain Fallfor a better grounding in the back story of some of the characters.
