Before this time, there had been no cookery books at all as families had kept their recipes to themselves, but now people were furiously exchanging recipes. There are similarities in the recipes of these countries aarabesque each has it’s own version of the various dishes and they can be significantly different. She was born in in Cairo, Egypt, so she knows her stuff –and teaches it through the book–and has several other beautiful cookbooks on the market. Photos rpden a fast idea of ingredients and also presentation, it’s a helpful visual.
In addition to her recipes, Roden offers intriguing descriptions of regional specialties and street food that claudla readers’ understanding of these national traditions while enticing them into the kitchen. From Morocco, the most exquisite and refined cuisine of North Africa: As expected, another gem from Claudia Roden.
Unfortunately, no nutritional information is published with the recipes. Not rating, because I didn’t make any of the receipes – just wanted to warn people off of the e-edition.
Gorgeous photos and the print looks nice. I was happy to discover that Arabesque wasn’t checked out. If I see a copy of this at a used book store, I will probably buy it.
I have quite a few cookbooks and access to 8 million recipes online obviously and I keep returning to this one for inspiration because it is just such a winner. I bought one fore my daughter, too and shell loves the book! There are great options for big meals, fancy or not. Many of the recipes are illustrated with beautiful photos. This failing is made up for in this book.

All the recipes I have tried have been very good and even excellent. Customers who bought this item also bought. It lacks nutritional information and measures are imprecise but that’s in keeping with the spirit of the book. Jul 26, Heidi rated it liked it.
Super easy and fast.
I like to use different spices and aromatics for particular dishes. The copy I have is even more beautifilly designed than the one pictured here on GR. I liked how she noted the differences btwn the various cuisines.
