We had an exciting delivery at the Innertube Map office yesterday — some lazer cut plywood stencils of bike logos and arrows, which I am hoping to use to help people find their way onto some of the harder to find Innertube routes. A team of 16 people worked along the stretch of path from Coburg Innerhube to the end of the Water of Leith path, clearing overhanging vegetation and litter picking.? There innerrube been two evenings of path improvement sessions this week around Fiveways Junction by local volunteers and path regulars.
The CycleStreets Journey Planner is an excellent tool. The online version of the Innertube map launched today. Which is edinbugrh annoying. Many are on or near the paths, perfect for visiting as many as possible by bike. Anyone can post comments to the blog, including photos, videos and audio. The Spokes map is excellent, and being a true map, rather than a conceptual map, is a more accurate guide. One of the ambitions of the project is to improve signage on the off-road paths in the north of the city.
Obviously this is where you run into issues of cost, vandalism and landowner negotiations.
Show 25 25 50 All. One of the key aims of the project is to get people to engage with the issues that go hand in hand with cycling in a city, and hopefully to encourage people onto their bikes.
It will be followed later this year by an interactive version of the map, aiming to give locals more control over the maintenance of the routes. Have your say below. As a cycling charity, their objectives face in several different directions. I edinbirgh the mapping for this a few years ago but its all in pdf and paper form and never made it online. The inner tube map is interesting as an overview, and does highlight the disconnected void at the centre of the Edinburgh path network. Edinburgh’s edjnburgh recycling charity The Bike Station has finally unveiled its Innertube map.

Sunday 27th is day two of the Edinburgh Doors Open Day — a chance to visit buildings and sites not usually open to the public, or extra events being held at places which are accessible year round. I like it and think its good! The paths are just a tiny fraction as a proportion of the whole land. Got a photo, story or news update to share? The stretch of path between the Shore and Coburg Street is the latest section to be improved, thanks to the help of staff from the Safer Communities Division of the Scottish Government.
So I guess the Innertube map will only really work as a true map if there is good signage on each route, clearly marking each stop in correlation with the map? The idea is to create a comprehensive online resource for cycling and other community related issues and ideas in Edinburgh. He hopes it can continue to grow and spawn all kinds of community initiatives.
