Dec 26, Oziel Bispo Paula M. View all 3 comments. View all 4 comments. The stories in this book were impressive and they help keeping the Christmas spirit alive in your heart.
The tales about the birth of Jesus are predominant in the book, each of them having something original and special, but equally beautiful are the stories of the lives of ordinary people.
Buck y a Grazia Deledda.

Jun 12, Seonaid rated it liked it Shelves: Lagerlof wrote this book to help promote the aims of both TB awareness and temperance, and it shows.
Preachy in tone, the supernatural lagsrlof lacks the real tension of Lord Arne’s Silver, overwhelmed as it is by the theme of all-a-man-needs-is-a-good-woman-to-reform-him. This theme is the novel’s fatal flaw. It is impossible to imagine why Salvation Army officer, Sister Edit, would fall so deeply in love with a drunken thug like David Holm that the power of her love, even after death, would redeem him in quite the way it does. The novel is saved from becoming too sentimental by Lagerlof’s descriptions of domestic violence and abuse, but this only then adds to the confusion as to what on earth Edit sees in Holm.
Due to personal preferences in stories I was about to give this book four stars. When reading this short, but well worth reading, book it makes me think about “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, which might be more familiar to many of you.
IF you enjoy that story, then I think you will enjoy this one too. She has put together a story about fortune Due to personal preferences carreteeo stories I was about to give this book four stars. She csrretero put together a story about fortune and misfortune, right and wrong, hope and desires, all neatly put together in a story about life and death.
A story guided by ideas about right and wrong from a time that might have passed, but where some, although not all, still remains alive today. Can’t say I enjoyed this short story. The writing is good, the setting is quite intriguing and the ending and moral of the story could have been good if there were any hint to the story being criticism against or commentary on fanaticism.
fe All I took away from it was that view spoiler [you should not be mad at ell partner for trying to kill you, God will fix your relationship if there’s any point to it hide spoiler ]. Maybe I did not get it. Gullig liten sensmoral i fickformat. Made me remember that storytelling is a gift and an art form! Novela catalogada como terror.
