Mar 23, Andrew rated it it was amazing Shelves: Wonderful pencil and watercolor drawings by perhaps my favorite realistic illustrator of all time – Jan Ormorod – are the perfect accompaniment to Robie Harris’s sympathetic but no-nonsense text. I love the sketches of the mouse, and the story is very touching and realistic.

This book shows the passing of a pet, which children also have to face in life. Very good book to share with a child dealing with the death of a pet.

Great for the young child who’s lost a pet or even for a child who has to deal with losing a family member or ogodbye friend to death. But talking about Mousie, burying Mousie in a special box, and saying good-bye helps this boy begin to feel better about the loss of his beloved pet.
He gets very mad at Mousie for dying, and then he feels very sad.
