I’ll do dunmord good first. Please get it, even now I feel nostalgic and want to read it again. There are also some awkward moments. This book is by a british woman Just another piece of proof that they are the best writers and i I discovered this series by dunore luck. Return to Book Page. SUMMARY When Sapphire’s father disappears, most people say he’s been drowned, although the more vicious of the townspeople say he ran off with another woman.
To accept that a man who knew “every wrinkle of the coast” has been taken by the sea is impossible. There’s just not enough depth to her.
Sadly, it just didn’t work, although it’s really not a bad book. Sapphire and Conor live in a small beachside house, a I’ve never read a book that painted a picture as well as Ingo did. I credit Helen Dunmore’s impressive writing style with the atmosphere of simultaneous longing and hlen when it came to the world of Ingo a sort of alternate dimension of the sea. I think I’d hesitate to read any of the other books in the series just because of him.

Sapphire and Conor learnt how to be Mer people, they learnt how to talk with animals and learnt what their blood heritage can do. Others say Saph is dreamy to the point of no tolerance. When asked about the girl, Conor behaves as if she were never there, and is shocked and at first doesn’t believe that hours have passed since he went for a “quick” swim.
The imagery is beautiful, told like a poet. Here, Dunmore returns to Zennor, the setting of her adult novel Darkness in Zennor.
A deep love of the stunning Cornish countryside is matched by a wonder at the mysteries of the sea. Now I am very ready to read Stormswept and welcome in the new series. A year after his disappearance, her mother began dating a new man, which dismayed Sapphire and her brother. It was more than an OK book. This is the right way to tell a mermaid tale. The problem is that Ingo also wants to be an adventure book about exciting fun times under the ocean, and you really can’t have those themes co-exist in one novel.

In the last scene Sapphire works in her father’s garden, with her neighbour’s dog, Sadie, staying with her on trial, lying beside her. On one normal summer morning, the two wake up to find their father has dissapeared. He knows the sea too well. Uelen is not far behind. I must read the next one in the series The Tide Knot! The very end there’s a teaser about her dad, but I’m left feeling a little hleen like I got shortchanged in gelen story, and that it’s getting stretched out for the series instead of resolving it in a single book or at least taking steps towards resolving it!
