Questions and postings pertaining to the usage of ImageMagick regardless of the interface.
However there are several other compression algorithms that can be used, and each will have a different filter. Imagemagic seems to work: I just do not know. When scanning documents, PDF acts as a container and the scanned images are stored as a binary string.
As I understand it, it surpasses the Group 4 compression which is also bi-tonal, and was designed for faxesand it should work very similar to the bi-tonal JB2 compression in DjVu.
Also the density will likely change the pdf file size. The most interesting one, that appears there is JBIG2. Last edited by dowcet on Sat May 02, 2: I don’t know much about compression within PDF files.

Learn how your comment data is processed. Fixing that resulted in minor file size changes for the lossless. Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published. I might expect that the tif would be compressed before wrapping the vector shell around it. Brian Z 6 It looks like using ImageMagick and some smart filter, better color separation can be achieved, especially when notes are written with a pen with a non-black ink.
DjVu is the best choice for lossless compression, but the difference between lossy and lossless are perceptually negligible.
You could also try converting with -monochrome, but that will dither the output, but it might be smaller. Sign up using Facebook. Notify me of new posts by email.

This allows readable lecture notes in while preserving small size per page as you can see in Imagsmagick Tips on Scanning Lecture Notes.
The other, less significant, issue is deskewing, e. Sorry, your blog cannot share posts by email.
Tiff to JBIG2 PDF? – ImageMagick
Email Required, but never shown. I have a tiff. So i need to change the compression type of image to JBIG2. You premise is flawed.
You can test compression methods by converting your tiff to another tiff and see if the file size changes. Despite the much lower resolution, the resulting file is actually a little bit larger and bit:
