The most interesting sections for me were those covering the events of the T’ang, the Sung, and the Manchu dynasties and I now have a much better understanding of the involvement of China’s rulers with Central and South East Asia, Korea and Japan. I was generally aware of the basic outlines of Chinese history, but not really in much detail because most of my academic background is the Graeco-Roman world.
