The Tuloriad was written in collaboration between Ringo and Tom Kratman. In this one, there’s a real exploration of the “human condition” as it relates to religion and choosing to believe or not, making political choices with religious consequences and vice versa.

Part of it was simply its success — the first two books of what was originally planned as a trilogy were selling so well that Ringo was rapidly becoming one of Baen’s leading authors, which meant that Baen was going to want a lot more material to keep the trend going.
